Depression is more than feeling sad.
It’s like someone turned down the volume on life. Nothing feels good anymore. Things that used to matter don’t. You’re tired but can’t sleep. You’re hungry but food tastes like cardboard. You’re lonely but don’t want to see anyone.
It’s not being lazy or weak or ungrateful. It’s your brain and body shutting down because they can’t handle any more. You want to feel better but don’t know how. You want to care but can’t. Everything feels heavy, hard, and pointless. And worst of all, it can make you feel like things will never get better.

What causes depression?
Depression can sneak up slowly or hit all at once. These are some common reasons:
- Loss of a job, relationship, or loved one
- Chronic stress or burnout
- Ongoing health issues or pain
- Major life changes
- Loneliness or feeling disconnected
- A history of trauma or neglect
- A family history of depression
Sometimes there’s no clear reason. You just know something isn’t right.
The world tells you to “just think positive” or “be grateful for what you have.” But depression doesn’t work that way. You can’t snap out of it any more than you can think yourself out of having a broken leg.
What Depression Can Feel Like
How Therapy Can Help You
We start where you are, even if that’s barely getting by. No judgment about what you haven’t done or how long you’ve been struggling.
Depression tells you lies – that you’re worthless, that it won’t get better, that no one cares. We help you recognize the lies and find the truth underneath. We help you make small changes that make tomorrow slightly better than today.
We’ll help you:
- Understand why you feel this way
- Find tiny bits of relief, even in the darkness
- Rebuild connections with people when you’re ready
- Deal with the things that led to the depression
- Learn to catch yourself before you fall all the way down again

Depression wants you alone, quiet, and still.
Therapy is the opposite. We want connection, talking, and slowly moving forward. You won’t feel better overnight. But you will start to remember what better feels like.
You don’t have to feel this way forever. You don’t have to do it alone. We’ll walk with you until you start to feel like yourself again.
Just remember, you’ve survived every bad day so far.
